6 August 20267 min readBy UPSeva Team

🔴 Kya hua?

4 August 2026 ko BBC ne ek detailed report publish ki jisme CJP (Cockroach Janta Party) protest mein shamil mahilaon ke saath online harassment ke kayi cases document kiye gaye. BBC ne chaar mahilaon se baat ki aur unke screenshots, messages aur posts review kiye.

BBC ke anusar, jo mahilayein CJP protest mein gayin ya social media par protest-related content post kiya, unhein slut-shaming, rape threats, morphed images, doxxing (personal info leak) aur caste/religion-based abuse ka samna karna pada.

Yeh harassment itni serious thi ki kayi mahilaon ne:

  • Apne Instagram aur social media accounts private kar diye
  • Protest-related posts delete kar diye
  • Unknown numbers ke calls lena band kar diya
  • Apna naam online change kar diya

BBC News, Delhi — Zoya Mateen aur Nikita Yadav ki report, 4 August 2026.

🔴 Mahilaon ke saath kya hua — BBC report ke mukhya points

BBC ne jin mahilaon se baat ki, unke experiences:

  1. Content Creator (mid-20s, naam nahi bataya gaya): Inhone protest ke baad Instagram par first-person accounts share kiye aur volunteers ke liye food aur aid organize ki. Iske turant baad inhein slut-shamed kiya gaya. Inka chehra ek national TV channel par dikhaya gaya, jiske baad social media par inke college ki information leak hui. Inke inbox mein anonymous messages aaye jisme police complaint, beating aur arrest ki dhamkiya di gayin.

  2. Student Activist (Muslim woman): Inhone PM Modi ka mazak udane wali satirical videos banayi. Unki photos ko morph karke unhein "anti-national" aur "terrorist" bataya gaya. Inhein "hijra" jaise shabdon se insult kiya gaya. Inke journalist father ne unse pucha ki unhone kyon apni baat rakhi — kyunki Muslim naam hone ki wajah se unhein aur risks ka samna tha.

  3. Student (West Bengal): Kolkata protest mein shamil hone ke baad inhein private messages mein prostitute kaha gaya. Inhone fundraiser post delete kar di, social media account private kar diya aur unknown logon ke messages block kar diye. Inhone note kiya ki unke male friends ko same views ke liye target nahi kiya gaya — "jab baat women ki aati hai, response gender ke baare mein ho jaata hai."

  4. Anonymous woman: Inke relatives aur acquaintances ne inke parents ko call karke videos delete karne ko kaha. "Jo mujhe ho sakta hai usse zyada main apne parents ke baare mein worried hoon," inhone BBC ko bataya.

🔴 Social media platform par kaise report karein

Har social media platform ka apna reporting mechanism hai:

  • Instagram: Profile → Settings → Report a Problem. Ya specific post/message par report button use karein.
  • X (Twitter): Post ke top-right arrow → Report Post. Direct harassment ke liye "abusive/harmful" select karein.
  • Facebook: Post ke top-right dots → Find Support or Report Post.
  • YouTube: Video ke neeche three dots → Report.

IT Rules 2026 ke tahat, social media platforms ko complaint milne ke 2 ghante ke andar non-consensual intimate content remove karna hota hai. Baki harassment complaints ka resolution 24-72 ghante mein aana chahiye.

🔴 Safety tips — protest ya activism ke dauraan online safe rahein

  1. Real name avoid karein: Agar sensitive content post kar rahe hain, alias ya first-name-only use kar sakte hain.
  2. Accounts private rakhein: Protest-related posting se pehle accounts private mode mein switch karein.
  3. Location tag na karein: Real-time location share karne se doxxing risk badhta hai.
  4. Screenshots rakhein: Har abuse, threat, aur harassing message ka screenshot lein — complaint ke liye evidence zaroori hai.
  5. Two-factor authentication on karein: Sabhi social media accounts mein 2FA enable karein taki hack na ho.
  6. Face-blurring ka use karein: Protest ki photos/videos mein apna face blur karein agar identity safe rakhni hai.
  7. Personal info delete karein: Purane posts mein se mobile number, email, address jaise personal details hata dein.
  8. Trusted contacts banayein: Ek trusted friend group rakhein jo suspect activity ko monitor kare aur alert kare.

🔴 निष्कर्ष / Conclusion

CJP protest mein mahilaon ke against online harassment ek serious pattern dikhata hai — mahilayein agar political ya social issues par publicly bolti hain, to unhein disproportionately sexualised aur gender-based abuse ka target banaya jaata hai. Lekin kanoon aapke saath hai. Online harassment report karna aapka adhikar hai, aur cybercrime.gov.in jaise portals isi ke liye bane hain.

Agar aap ya aapki koi jaankar online harassment face kar rahi hai, to silence best response nahi hai — evidence collect karein aur official channel par complaint karein.
